AGPayroll Team Triumphs in Ben Nevis Climb for Back Onside Charity
On the 7th of September, the AGPayroll team took on a challenging yet rewarding adventure—climbing Ben Nevis, the highest peak in the UK, in support of the charity Back Onside. We set an ambitious target to raise £2,000 for this incredible cause, and we’re thrilled to share that we surpassed our goal, raising over £3,000 in donations!
The Climb
Under sunny skies and with breathtaking views across the Scottish Highlands, the weather couldn’t have been better. It was a glorious 26 degrees with clear skies—unusual conditions for Ben Nevis, making the climb even more memorable. As we trekked up the mountain, the beauty of the landscape surrounding us served as a constant reminder of the importance of supporting mental health initiatives like Back Onside.
However, the climb was not without its surprises! As we made our way up the mountain, we found ourselves in the midst of an unexpected running competition. Runners zoomed past us on the way up, and some were already making their way down before we even reached the summit! Despite this, we kept our spirits high, motivated by the support we were generating for Back Onside.
It wasn’t easy, and we’re still feeling the burn in our legs, but reaching the top as a team made it all worthwhile. It was a moment of triumph, camaraderie, and reflection on the meaningful work that Back Onside does for those struggling with mental health.
About Back Onside
Back Onside is a UK-based charity dedicated to tackling the stigma surrounding mental health, particularly within sports and young people. Their mission is to offer vital support, guidance, and rehabilitation to those struggling with mental health issues, helping them get “back onside” with life. Through workshops, outreach programmes, and personal mentoring, Back Onside empowers individuals to regain control of their mental wellbeing.
The charity works closely with local communities, sports clubs, and schools, aiming to provide a safe environment for people to speak openly about their mental health challenges. The funds raised by the AGPayroll team will go directly towards expanding Back Onside’s critical services, helping more individuals access the support they need.
Reflecting on the Day
For our team, the climb was more than just a physical challenge; it was an opportunity to support a cause we care deeply about. The sense of achievement as we reached the summit was heightened by knowing we had gone beyond our fundraising goal. It’s not every day you get to combine such a meaningful cause with such an epic personal challenge, and we couldn’t be prouder of the outcome.
